You Matter
You Matter
You Matter! Two very powerful words we can share with each other within our families, with friends, peers, students and colleagues. Author and international speaker Angela Maiers (2014), reminds us that when we know that we matter there is a significant shift in our mindset. Every person has been created uniquely and for purpose. In every community or group, different people at different times hold the key for improving the lives of individuals, groups and communities. Every person holds a gift that can make a difference for one or for many. Each of us has a responsibility to make the best use of those gifts to lift those around us. Believing we matter shifts us from the grey of getting things done to living fully.
Within the Bible we are told that each of us matters greatly to God who knows us intimately, even down to the number of hairs on our heads. Knowing we matter to God and to others energises and lifts us to greater action. Our role in life is to unleash the giftedness within ourselves and others. We do this within our families, friendship groups, the Pacific community and even the strangers who serve us at different times by believing, recognising, listening, celebrating and responding. Over the coming week, let’s take up the challenge of believing we matter and reminding others that they matter and feel the difference. Living with the habit of mattering makes a difference.
