Next week students will be able to sign up for a range of competitive and representative sporting options for Terms 2 – 4. Kayaking
With the PLC Kayaking Program starting in Term 2, we are looking for any interested parents with potential experience in watercraft who may be able to volunteer their time to the program. The program has greatly benefitted from the fantastic involvement of parents in previous years. If you are interested, please contact Mr Gary Graves (ggraves@pacluth.qld.edu.au).
SCISSA Junior and Intermediate Soccer
Well done to our SCISSA Soccer teams on another strong week. The Yr 7/8 Boys had a tough first half against a strong Immanuel side and a considerable head wind. They worked hard to try and get back in the game in the second half and should be proud of their efforts. The 9/10 Boys Team 1 were also competitive in their efforts but could not find a way to crack the defensive intent of their opponents, going down 3-0. The Intermediate Girls team recorded a good away win, 2-0, through the use of some great ball movement and teamwork. The win of the week goes to the 9/10 Boys Team 2 who ran away with their game 8-0. A strong effort by the boys and looking forward to seeing them back it up next week.
SCISSA Senior Volleyball
Once again, our Senior Volleyball teams travelled to different locations across the sunshine coast for their fixtures on Wednesday night. A big thank you to the players and coaches who are committing their time and energy to represent PLC in competitive sport. The Senior Boys Team 1 are still searching for their first win of the season and will need to continue their hard work to match the game intensity of their opponents. Congratulations to Senior Boys Team 2 for picking up their first win of the season. All the Senior Girls Teams had double headers, and it was fantastic to see all teams won at least one game of their fixtures, with very narrow losses in their other games. A fantastic effort by our teams. While the wins are a pleasant outcome, our focus is celebrating student commitment to representing PLC with their teams each week. Most of our Senior students are doing an amazing job and they are supporting their team mates admirably. It is an expectation that students who have signed up to competitive sport teams are committing to all games, and if not attending, they need to advise their coaches in advance. We look forward to celebrating more Volleyball success next week.
