7-12 Interhouse Swimming Carnival

On the very last day of Term 3, our Year 7-12 cohort had a great day of fun and competition at the Kawana Aquatic Centre for the 2022 Interhouse Swimming Carnival. Even with poor weather loitering around, our students were not deterred and turned up with plenty of spirit, and some great performances on show throughout the day. Aside from the competitive races, this year marked the first paddleboard relay as part of the proceedings which was a great hit! Congratulations to Buran house for their strong performances throughout the day which led them to take out the Champion House trophy. Bula is also deserving of a special mention for receiving the Spirit Trophy for keeping their loud and consistent support for their swimmers all day.

Well done to Alexander Monroe (Year 11) and Emily Lengenberg (Year 8) for winning the King and Queen of the Pool event, a challenging 200 IM.

Congratulations to all Age Champions listed below for their fantastic efforts:

Competitive Sport News

Champion Schools’ Queensland Basketball

The Senior Boys Basketball team had a challenging year at the Champion Basketball School of Queensland Tournament but with all 5 starters being in Years 10 and 11, the foundation has been set for next year. This was the first tournament for many of our students and they will take a lot from the experience. Training for our 2023 campaign will begin during Term 4 with all players highly motivated to continue their improvements. The Senior squad will only lose Year 12 student Kai Pethick from this year’s group and we thank Kai for his leadership and work ethic displayed throughout 2022.

SCISSA Rugby 7’s

We are very much looking forward to the start of our Rugby 7’s season next week. Students will be provided with a jersey at training before the first round of fixtures. Along with the jersey, students will also need to make sure they have PLC rugby shorts, socks, a mouthguard and a water bottle. Students will be required to meet their coaches no later than 15 minutes before games to warm up. If you have any queries regarding the upcoming season, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Josh Cummins (jcummins@pacluth.qld.edu.au)
