On Friday 4th August, 12 Year 6 students, four from each House, competed in a Spelling Bee. Points earned in the Spelling Bee go towards the Foundation Cup. Students wore their House shirts proudly as they participated in turn, sitting patiently, waiting to receive their word to spell. The Academic PAG Captain and Action Group members called on each contestant and read out loud the word, which was required to be spelled. In some instances, competitors asked for the word to be provided in a sentence.

Students were provided with a whiteboard to assist, however, the first spelling uttered was the response judged. The competing students were required to spell their words standing up in front of their Year 6 peers, which added an extra layer of pressure. After 2 rounds of spelling, we were down to the final 3 contestants and placings. Well done to all competitors for an amazing event and congratulations to the following students:

1st place, with 100% words spelled correctly: Henry Greene (BULA)

2nd place: Joshua Cockburn (BULA)

3rd place: Shyam Sathish (MUMBA)

The House points for this event go towards the Foundation Cup points and are as follows:

1st Place: Bula

2nd Place: Mumba

3rd Place: Buran

4th Place: Wira

Thank you to the Year 6 teachers for their assistance and to the Academic PAG for organising and running this Spelling Bee.
