This term in library classes, Year 3 students have been examining 3D shapes, tying in with their Maths studies. We have read a book about 3D shapes, built shapes from geometric nets, used a Splat 3D tool to draw and render cubes, spheres, pyramids, cones and cylinders, and finished off by working as a whole class to attempt to build a geodesic dome. Not all the attempts were completely successful, but students had a valuable experience working together and trying to interpret plans to construct an object.
