This week through participation in the ANZAC Day March and a range of services our community has joined with the Australian community to remember the sacrifices of our Defence Personnel and their families. We show our deepest respect for their service by living our lives well. Parent and veteran, Major Duncan Buchanan spoke to this theme at both our ANZAC Day services on Wednesday. Within the Year 6-12 service, Major Buchanan encouraged our students to draw on the ANZAC’s spirit and learn through failure and the physical, mental and social-emotional challenges encountered in life. Our goal as we learn is to grow to be “good humans” who make a difference for others. Major Buchanan encouraged our P-5 students to emulate the service of the ANZACs by acting to help their friends, their families and the broader community. As we engaged in the remembrances, we expressed our gratitude for the sacrifices of our defence personnel and their families and the freedoms their service has given.

Within the College services, we were also reminded of Jesus’ sacrifice for us so that we might live our lives free of the burden of sin and that God walks with us. As we encounter life’s challenges and failures, we can turn to God for guidance and support. As we see need in our friends, family and the broader community, we act with compassion and courage to meet the need of our neighbour.
