On Monday, our Intermediate Girls water polo team competed in the grand final of the Sunshine Coast Water Polo Championships at the Kawana Pool. The girls, coached by Mrs Wendy Wescombe and Mr Andrew Lowe, faced a very strong team from St Andrew’s Anglican College (SAAC) and after the first quarter it looked like SAAC would swim away with an easy victory. However, the rest of the game was all Pacific’s, as the girls clawed their way back to be only one goal behind with one minute to go. After a quick goal by Charlotte Ker to level scores, Pacific had a chance to go ahead, when a shot at goal narrowly missed. However, after a sideline pass in with 10 seconds left, Karla Lowe managed to tip the ball past the SAAC goalkeeper to win the game on the buzzer in one of the greatest come-from-behind wins I’ve seen in a long time!

Well done to all the girls and coaches! It was a very well deserved premiership title.
