Talking Aloud To Ourselves Builds Understanding
Out loud self-talk can be a powerful way to get our brains engaged to the learning moments that present themselves. By asking ourselves questions out loud, we can cue our brains to focus and switch on. Explaining things out loud to yourself can also build engagement, understanding and retention. By explaining concepts aloud to ourselves we are building connections and patterns within our brains as we process the words to make meaning. Visualising as we speak, strengthens connections even further.
God has given us a great universe to explore and a life time of learning with which to engage. Switching on our curiosity by asking ‘what can be learnt here’, alerts our minds to the endless possibilities for growth that we can find every day.
