Sunshine Coast Mathematics Tournament

Last week, approximately 750 students from 78 Sunshine Coast schools ventured to Lake Kawana Community Centre to participate in the annual Mathematics Tournament. Pacific entered teams of five students, from Years 6-12, who participated in three rounds: individual, team problem solving and team relay. Congratulations to all students for their participation. A number of students received marks of 100% in their individual rounds and we commend them on their achievement. The following teams also won overall places for the tournament:

• Year 8 – 2nd 
• Year 11 – 3rd
• Year 12 – 3rd

Thank you to Mr Andrew Block and Mrs Amanda Empson who assisted myself with training the teams and to the staff who assisted on the day. Thank you also to Mrs McLaughlin-Phillips, Mrs Watman, Mrs Jones and student leader Susan Kerr for their assistance with supervising a team at the Tournament.
