Last Friday, 23 members of the Senior String Ensemble spent the afternoon at Siena Catholic College undertaking a joint strings workshop with the string ensembles from Siena Catholic College, Sunshine Coast Grammar School and St Teresa’s Catholic College. The students were split into their instrumental sections and spent time rehearsing four new pieces in groups and as one large ensemble. They experienced working with other conductors and playing alongside other students. This was a wonderful experience for our string players to extend themselves musically and discover how other school ensembles rehearse. The afternoon culminated in a short concert where all four of the new pieces were performed. Congratulations to all of our Pacific Lutheran string players who played beautifully and set a wonderful example.

On Sunday, Kate Monroe and Sebastian Box played at an outdoor concert in Buderim, in the Rising Stars quartet as part of the Sunshine Coast Chamber Music Festival. They were selected from many hopefuls to be part of this quartet and after many months of rehearsals they finally got to perform – Congratulations Kate and Sebastian.

Another very busy term has now passed, and it has been a huge one for the Music Department. It was filled with performances at assemblies and chapels, Anzac day marching band, strings workshops, jazz ensemble workshop, exams, tutor concerts, open day, the Bunnings sausage sizzle and to finish it all off, an end of term Ensembles Concert! Big thanks go out to our amazing music tutors who teach all of the talented Pacific Lutheran musicians. If there is anyone who would still like to enrol for instrumental lessons next term please get in touch with Mrs Helen  helenw@pacluth.qld.edu.au

Wishing everyone a happy and relaxing holiday. To the music students, keep practising!
