Futsal started in Brazil in 1930 when a teacher, Juan Carlos Cerani, created a version of five-a-side indoor football. It proved to be an exciting and skilful game. This year’s Senior Boys School Futsal Titles at Brisbane was just that: exciting, fast and skilful.

The senior boys played excellent futsal to win their four group games. However, they had some close, hard matches along the way. Their final group games saw them up against Grace Lutheran College and they won a hard physical encounter 3-2. Then they had to play Albany Creek in the semi-final just five minutes later! In an exciting non-stop game, they took a 2-0 lead but eventually lost 3-2.

The U16 boys made the semi-finals with two wins, one draw and one loss in the group stage. With no subs, they played really well in the semi-final but eventually went down 3-1.The U15 side, coached by former student Tyler Turner, won their first game but lost the next two group games. However, they showed real potential for the future.

Well done to all teams.
