Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers Maths Quiz (QAMT)
Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers Maths Quiz (QAMT)
The QAMT is a state-wide competition consisting of teams made up of at least one student from the lower year level. This year we competed on campus for the first round and both the Year 5/6 and 7/8 divisions were selected to compete at the regional finals. Thank you to Mr Andrew Block who coordinated the competition.
Well done to the Year 7/8 teams of Emily Studiman, Ellie Bauer and Orly Sillar and the Year 5/6 teams of Madison French, Flynn Weule, Chloe Haas, Abby Novosel, Henry Greene and Grace Healy.
This year both of our main competitions were completed online using a similar platform to next year’s online NAPLAN testing. Certificates and an individual analysis were awarded at assembly or in class this week. The Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), tests everything from basic numeracy skills through to advanced problem solving and is a benchmark for mathematical ability throughout the Pacific and South-East Asia. Students were nominated for this competition and congratulations go to the following award recipients:
Best in School Award - Nathan Russell, Year 6 who has also been awarded a Distinction and Noah Winten, Year 11 who has also been awarded a High Distinction.
High Distinctions - Oliver Friend, Year 7
Distinction certificates are awarded to students who are in the top 20% of their year and region.

ICAS Mathematics
All students in Years 6 to 9 joined nominations from the other years to compete in ICAS (International Competitions and Assessment for Schools) Mathematics. Due to COVID, sitting periods were extended across Australia and as such we have only just received our senior results.
A Distinction certificate is awarded to a student achieving in the top 11% of participants. Congratulations to the following recipients:
Noah Winten, Year 11, Ezekiel Bautista, Year 10 and Li-Yu Yang, Year 7.
Congratulations to the following Junior school recipients: Kimika Conrad, Year 5; Jessica Murphy, Marcel Patullo, Lucas von Plessen, Year 4; Louise Greene, Scarlett van den Hurk, Ashlan Hill, Vivienne Padwick and Machado Sully, Year 3.
All competing students receive a report on the back of the certificate outlining how they went in each question and their performance relative to Australia and you can now access this information and a topic analysis. Please remember that, unlike Pacific, many schools have only their highest performing students compete. The paper report includes a ten-digit ICAS ID number (known as the TAP ID) and four digit PIN number (both found towards the bottom of the report), which can be used to access results online. To do this, simply visit the website www.icasassessments.com . At the top right of the home page, click on ‘portals’ and 'results portal' and scroll down to student results. Then enter your child's ten-digit ID number and four-digit PIN number. Access is then granted to the online portal.
We congratulate all these students on their fine achievement.
If students are interested in competing in any of the competitions offered, please ensure they sign up next year as they are announced in daily notices.
