Principal's Log

Last Saturday, Pacific hosted the Caloundra District Netball Association (CDNA) fixtures. The day was a tremendous success with parents from our netball club providing good hospitality to our visiting teams. We congratulate and thank Mr Trevor Colton and his team for their generosity of time in leading and organising the day.

We congratulate our U15, U16 and senior futsal teams for their skilful performances at the School Futsal Titles held in Brisbane recently. All three teams played with great sportsmanship, each recording a number of wins on the day and two teams making the semi-finals. We thank Mr Brendan Delaney and past student Tyler Turner for their coaching and support of these students.

Students have enjoyed taking advantage of the new seating in our outdoor café area, which was installed at the end of last week. The new seating provides a great shaded outdoor learning space as well as a space for students to relax and connect at break times. The senior hospitality students are also looking forward to establishing a breakfast café out of this space in the near future. We thank Mrs Marnie Whittaker and Mrs Colleen Beattie for their creative design of this area, which has resulted in a space with a very warm ambience.

Earlier this week, Year 12 hospitality students enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the industry during their two-day stay at the Royal Pines on the Gold Coast. This visit enabled them to gain valuable work experience in a wide range of hospitality roles. We thank Mrs Colleen Beattie, Mrs Rhana Holt and Mr Ian Learoyd for the organisation and leadership of this event and look forward to enjoying the students’ skills at the Boat Shed Dinner on Tuesday 30^th May.

This week on assembly, Middle and Senior College students and staff were treated to a small insight into the energy and vibrancy of the Side Show production. Families will also have the opportunity for a preview this weekend, with rehearsals running throughout Open Day. All families are encouraged to bring friends along to the performances on Friday 19^th and Saturday 20^th May, which promise to be thoroughly entertaining experiences.
