Every week and every day I am conscious of the generosity of spirit and genuine desire on the part of staff, students, parents and College Council to make a difference for our young people and for people within and beyond our community. We are very blessed to be growing in a culture and at the same time growing and sustaining a culture of good purpose.

We thank our volunteers who are leading, coaching and managing our Pacific FC and PLC Netball Clubs and wish our volunteers and players all the best as the season gets underway. As a legislated Child Safety measure all volunteers including Executive members, coaches and managers need to complete the volunteer’s induction process which can be completed online by completing the Volunteer Handbook. Access to the Volunteer Handbook is via the parent portal in NAV- Nav Community Links.

Later this term on Tuesday 26th March, cybersafety expert Brett Lee will be speaking to staff, students and parents about maintaining a safe presence in the online environment. This is an important and complex area for families to negotiate and we encourage all parents to take advantage of Brett’s presentation for parents from 6.00pm which will be the first of the Pacific Learning Hub presentations for the year. Simple things such as ensuring that devices are not used in bedrooms and not left in bedrooms overnight can reduce the likelihood of poor choices being made. Students are educated at school about cybersafety.  Having these messages reiterated and parents providing supervision around device use particularly for younger and middle years students at home is important. We look forward to insights that Brett will provide for our community in this important area.

We congratulate our swimmers who represented the College well at last week’s Independent Swimming Carnivals. The Year 3-6 team performed well during the day with many individual students placing in top 3 positions in their events. The Year 3-6 team finished 5th overall out of the 11 schools in competition. Our Year 7-12 team also performed well and placed 6th overall in the twilight competition. Thank you to parents, staff and students for your support of the carnivals and to our Heads of Sport Mr Darren Hooper and Mr Liam Jacka and Mrs Lisa Muir for their leadership and organisation. We wish those students selected to participate in the regional carnivals all the best.

We look forward to being able to come together to celebrate International Women’s Day next Friday 8th March from 7.00am – 8.00am. See details later in the newsletter including how to register your attendance.

We thank God for the gifts and generosity of heart that the people of this community bring. We pray that God would grow our sense of purpose through the everyday experiences of our lives.
