There was tremendous energy and joy as our music students enjoyed the opportunity to come together at this year’s music camp. The camp gave students the opportunity to strengthen relationships as they grew their talents as musicians. It is exciting to see the enthusiasm that students and staff bring to the music program and the continuing momentum of growth of individuals and ensembles. Parents and friends enjoyed the opportunity to listen to the student’s talented playing at the Sunday afternoon concert.  We look forward to hearing our ensembles play and thank our parents and students for their support. We particularly thank Mrs Helen Williams (Head of Instrumental Music), Mr Paul Cusick (Head of Music), Ms Kristelle Hill, Ms Linley Chen, Mrs Alysha Borak and our instrumental teachers for their leadership and organisation.

Students showed tremendous enthusiasm and spirit at the 7-12 swimming carnival. Students are to be congratulated on the high level of participation and talent that they showed. We celebrate with all students who swam and gave of their best for their house, those who were placed and our age champions. We congratulate Buran House as overall winners and Bula House for winning the Spirit Trophy. Thank you to Acting Head of Sport, Mr Liam Jacka and his team for a very well-run carnival. Thank you to our parents for their attendance and support. We wish our swimmers all the best for the upcoming District Carnival.

It is exciting to see the number of students engaging with our parent led Pacific FC Soccer and PLC Netball Clubs. We are very grateful to those parents who volunteer as coaches, managers and members to provide great opportunities for students to grow in their skills and as people. A special thank you to the Executive teams capably led by Mrs Rita Williams and Mrs Donna Watkins who give hours of their time to lead the Pacific FC Soccer and PLC Netball Clubs. We encourage parents to consider ways in which they can support both clubs.

Another important group within the College is the Friends of Pacific who meet monthly. Parents hear about what is occurring within the College, plan for upcoming events and have the opportunity to discuss and provide input around matters that are on the agenda. The meetings also provide a great opportunity for connection with nibbles provided from 6.00pm prior to the meeting which starts at 6.30pm. On Tuesday 20th February, we will be holding our Annual General Meeting. Continuing and new parents are invited to come along and consider taking on roles within the Executive.

This week we farewell Mrs Simone Shaw as the Communications and Administration Secretary. Mrs Shaw has provided a warm welcome for visitors, staff, students, and parents at the main reception and played an invaluable role in supporting our communications, including the production of weekly newsletters and supporting the leadership of events, including the OCEANfest last year. We thank Mrs Shaw for her contribution to the College and wish her well for the future.

Thank you to Acting Principals Ms Leigh Finter and Mrs Sue Zweck and the Administration and Leadership Executive who led extremely well in my absence last week. Thank you to our community for the care and support you also showed through this period.

We pray that God’s grace would empower us to live hope filled grateful lives of good purpose.
