It is always a delight to re-engage with the people of Pacific after a holiday break. We welcome everyone to the start of the Term 3 and particularly those students and families who are new to the College. We welcome Mr Scott Massie (Year 4), Mrs Belinda Vivash (Year 6), Mr Kurt Jones (PE teacher) and Mrs Jo Belchamber (Head of Learning Enrichment) to the College and look forward to the gifts of learning and growth that each brings into our community.

Over the holidays, all families will have received a letter via email, which provided a summary of recent and upcoming developments at the College as well as feedforward from the annual review mid last year. The letter also invited parents to participate in this year’s annual review. Your feedforward forms an important part of the College’s ongoing growth and development so I encourage all families to complete the review process.

Through this week families will have also received email communication in relation to the death of Pastor Rick and the alternative arrangements that have been put into place for Friday 15th July, the day of Pastor Rick’s funeral. You are asked to read these communications, which are attached at the end of my article if you have not already done so. School will be as normal for Year 6-12 students, but Prep to Year 5 families have been asked to keep children home on this day where possible due to the number of staff who will be absent at the funeral. We understand the inconvenience and cost to families and very much appreciate your support as you are able.

There was great energy from Year 9 families at the Year 10 subject selection evening last night. We thank parents and students for their attendance and our Careers Counsellor, Mrs Natasha Purcell, and Heads of Department for their leadership of this event.

Over the coming fortnight, parent, teacher and student conferences for Prep to Year 5 and Years 6-12 will be held. Information about booking these interviews will be sent by email and parents are very strongly encouraged to take the opportunity to be part of these important three-way learning conversations.

Congratulations to Mrs Colleen Beattie, Mrs Rhana Holt and Year 11 students Tom Turner, Darcy Campbell, Harry Stone, Caity O’Keefe and Lena Smith on their success at the recent RNA Student Made Cheese Competition. Their Camembert cheese scored 18.5 points out of 20 and came second place in the competition. Well done to all those involved.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who are grieving and in particular Mrs Sue Zweck and Mrs Anna Maher and the family and friends of Pastor Rick. We pray that God continues to uphold all those who grieve in His loving care.

Dr Bronwyn Dolling, Principal
