It was good to have our Year 9s return to school this week after completing their 10-day outdoor education experience.  The Year 9s and staff are to be commended on the way they adapted to the changing circumstances that arose as programs had to be adjusted in response to changing weather conditions.  The opportunity to spend extended time connecting with nature and each other and learning more about themselves provided an invaluable opportunity for personal growth and the growth of relationships.  We thank Ms Kim Wood for her leadership and focus on student wellbeing, and the following staff Mr Duncan McNee, Mr Brett Kersnovske, Mrs Emma Lendrum, Mr Paul Brace, Mr Ben Ryan and Ms Marg Gunn for supporting the students throughout the program.

Students and staff are to be congratulated on the level of involvement and support for the Ponytail Project which raised important awareness and over $5000 for the Cancer Council.  We thank Year 11 student Jasmine Groves for her leadership and all of the students and staff who were involved and supported this important initiative.

Well done to our Rugby 7s teams who participated in the semi-finals last night.  All teams competed really well but were unable to progress to the finals.  Congratulations to the 13 boys and 14 girls being placed third.

We wish the cast and crew of our Annie production all the best as they complete their final preparations for the performances this weekend.  It promises to be a thoroughly entertaining production and we look forward to being able to celebrate their talents as we share in the joy of their performance.

The Pacific Football Club has provided important opportunities for students to experience the joy and benefits that come from playing competitive football.  The club has had a strong tradition of building connections between parents and the fostering of a strong community.  We thank all coaches, managers and parents who have given strong support to the club. We particularly thank the Executive; President and Resolution Officer, Mrs Rita Williams, Secretary & Equipment Officer, Paul McFadyen, Vice President & Grounds Co-Ordinator, Zane Russell, Treasurer, Lesleigh Joyner, Canteen Co-Ordinator & Publicity Officer, Jenny Lee and Registrar, John Williams who have very successfully negotiated the challenges of the year and continued to provide excellent opportunities for young people and their parents.

We also look forward to being able to celebrate the talents and growth in thinking of our STEM students at next Wednesday’s STEM and IT showcase.  Families are invited to attend and share in the learnings students have gained through engagement in projects that have involved robotics, underwater drones, prosthetics, roller coasters and solar cookers.

We pray for God’s guidance that we might continue to grow in our self-awareness and ability to do good and be good for others.
