We look forward to enjoying our Aussie World Family Fun Night as part of our 20th Anniversary this Friday night October 22nd.  It has been a special fortnight as we had to adapt to changing circumstance as we have planned our celebrations. I thank all those who have contributed to the thinking and planning for our special events.

Our Kayakers continued their tradition of strong performances at the State Championships over this last weekend where we came second in the combined sprint and marathon championships.  Well done to our kayakers and a special congratulations to the large number of students who won gold, silver and bronze medals.  Thank you to Mr Gary Graves who since 2003 has nurtured a strong kayaking program from very humble beginnings, often having to fix crafts himself, to a program where we now have access to a lakeside shed and K1, K2, K4 and C1 craft.  Thank you to Mrs Leah Croke, Mr Ben Ryan, Jack Gothorp and Ben Regan for their support and coaching of the students over the season.

Congratulations to the Senior D Girls (12A) who won their basketball grand final last Friday night after a hard fought match.  The girls played with great spirit. Thank you to coaches Mr Scott Crompton and Mr Joe Doran and to the many parents and supporters who attended.

We also celebrate with Frank and Louis Martin who were announced as the winners of the Best cover song for 2021 as part of the Rockfest competition.  This competition is open to every school age student Australia-wide.  This is a wonderful achievement and a recognition of their tremendous talent that many of us have enjoyed at various events.  We wish Louis and Frank all the best as they continue to grow their music careers.

Queensland Health have launched a mass vaccination campaign and have publicised the recently opened Caloundra Vaccination Hub.  The attached flyer includes details about convenient ways in which staff, students and parents can book a COVID vaccination.  Vaccination is an important way to protect ourselves and our community.

I am pleased to announce that Mrs Kim Bonello will be the Director of Staff from January 2022.  Mrs Bonello has previously very successfully fulfilled the role of Head of Senior School Students at Pacific and more recently as Head of Business and Commerce at Prince of Peace Everton Hills.  Mrs Bonello brings a high level of knowledge and capacity in supporting the wellbeing of staff and students, the professional learning of staff, organisational skills, strategic thinking and compliance, including work-place health and safety and policy development.  We look forward to welcoming back Mrs Bonello in this new role.

We give thanks to God for richly blessing this community through its people.  May God inspire, encourage and enable each of us to continue to provide rich opportunities for young people to grow deeply within.
