Congratulations to our Senior E Boys basketball team who won their grand final last Friday night. Well done to all basketball players on another strong season and thank you to Mr Mark Hauser for his leadership of this program and all the coaches who work with our students.

Well done to our U14 boys rugby team who had their semi final match last night against Chancellor State College. While the scoreboard didn’t go our way, the boys played with great spirit and sportsmanship and were a credit to themselves, the College and their families. Thank you to Mr Josh Cummins for his leadership and reinvigoration of our rugby program, coaches Mr Alex O’Connor, Mrs Kristie Brock and Mr Andrew Block and Mr Josh Danzey and Mr Darren Hooper for their support.

Over the weekend, the Pacific FC soccer club also celebrated their end of season. We are very grateful to all coaches, managers and parents for supporting this terrific opportunity for our young people to enjoy and grow through playing soccer. It has taken an extraordinary level of commitment from our executive committee to navigate the club through the changed arrangements that this year has presented. Thank you to President Mrs Rita Williams and the committee of Mr Zane Russell, Mr Paul McFadyen, Ms Lesleigh Joyner and Mrs Jenny Lee as well as Mr John Williams and Mrs Shannon Russell for your calm, purposeful leadership.

We are pleased to announce that Ms Patricia Hosking has been appointed as the Head of Mathematics from the start of 2021  Ms Hosking has been Head of Mathematics at St Aidan’s Anglican Girls School and The Southport School and the Principal Stem Advisor (Teacher in Residence) at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane. Ms Hosking has been awarded the Choose Maths Outstanding Secondary Teacher Award by the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute and is passionate about all students enjoying maths and optimising their performance.

Over the holiday period, families will receive email and written communication from the College that will outline arrangements for 2021 orientation activities in Term 4, end of year activities and information to assist families to get ready for learning at Pacific in 2021. We are endeavouring to maintain strong cultural connection while taking account of likely COVID-19 related restrictions. We encourage all families to make sure they read the information carefully.

Thank you to staff, students and parents for your ongoing generosity in adapting and contributing to a strong learning culture and community at Pacific. We encourage all young people to find the time to reconnect with nature. We pray that all staff, students and families find time to rejuvenate and refresh through this September break.
