The talent and heart of our students has shone brightly this week in so many different ways. On Friday and Saturday, we were thoroughly entertained by an outstanding production of Oklahoma. Talented direction, set design, costumes, makeup, orchestral music and performances all worked powerfully together to take us on journey into the Oklahoma of old and have us reflecting on human relationships. The depth of talent throughout the cast was clearly evident. During the production experience, strong bonds were formed and younger students enjoyed the opportunity to learn alongside and from senior students. We congratulate Mrs Janine Delaney, and her team of Mrs Ceilidh King, Miss Alisha Janssen, Mr Alex O’Connor and Mrs Tracey Hickey, our Music staff, the orchestra and the cast and crew on an outstanding performance and the continuation of a culture of excellence in performance and connection.

Congratulations also goes to our 9-12 years Athletics team who performed strongly at the recent Independent District Athletics Carnival. Students showed great sportsmanship and spirit with many strong performances across the team. We celebrate with the team their achievement of fourth place overall and their winning of the Percentage Shield. Congratulations and thank you to Mr Darren Hooper and his team who have provided increased opportunity for athletics training this year.

Students have also been extremely successful in the da Vinci Decathlon this week, which involves students from schools across Queensland. Students engage in a series of 10 academic challenges over a day. We congratulate our Year 9 team who placed third in the General Knowledge event and our Year 6 team who placed second in the Science event and third in both the Engineering and Code Breaking events. Our Year 7 and 8 teams continue to compete today and we wish them all the best. Thank you to Mrs Jo Belchamber, Mrs Christine Doyle, Mrs Linda Sydes, Mr Andrew Block and Mrs Melissa Ousley for their leadership and support of our teams.

We say a prayer of thanks for the blessings God has given this community through its people.
