Congratulations to our Year 6-12 Mathematics teams who represented the college very well at the Sunshine Coast Mathematics Tournament last week. Throughout the competition, our teams achieved great success, placing second or third in each of the three rounds with a number of students achieving 100% in the individual round. We particularly congratulate our Year 8 team who came second overall and our Year 11 and 12 teams who came third overall. We thank Mrs Jasmin Steven and her team of teachers for preparing these students so well.

It is with great pleasure that we announce our college leaders for 2016. The process for all positions involves written applications, interviews and voting by staff and Year 11 students. We congratulate and pray for them and all Year 11 students as they begin the transition to becoming the senior students of the college.

Our Year 12 students are about to commence their final week of assessment and we wish them all the best for these important tests that will have impact on their final results. We then look forward to celebrating the important milestone of completing Year 12 in their final week as students of the college.

The Intermediate Girls water polo team are to be congratulated on their excellent win at their grand final on Monday night. They showed great spirit and skill, coming back from 6 nil at half time to win 7-6 with seconds to spare. Well done to the girls and to their coach Mrs Wendy Wescombe. The Senior Girls water polo team and their coach Ms Sue Arahill should also be commended for a good season.

The college was recently advised that we had been assessed and approved by the Department of Transport and Main Roads to receive funding from the State Government for a School Crossing Supervisor. After many years of concerns being expressed by our community members, it is pleasing that this safety measure will become available in the near future. An advertisement for the position can be found later in the newsletter and we would encourage you to share this more widely.

We look forward to the Origami production on Saturday and wish the cast and crew all the best for the performance. After many weeks of rehearsals, the students are excited to be able to share a perspective of life in Japan after the bombing of Hiroshima in the 70th anniversary year. We would encourage you to invite friends and family to the matinee and evening performances.

May we all know the freedom that comes through God’s unconditional love for us and use it for the good of others.
