Welcome to the start of the 2025 school year. We look forward an exciting year co-creating together. A particularly warm welcome to our new students, their families and new staff. It has been great to feel the energy as staff, students and parents have connected with each other throughout this week.

Each year, our Commencement Services enable us to come together in God’s presence to begin the process of growing as community with common purpose. The installation of new staff, rededication of continuing staff and installation, badging and recognition of student leaders was a special point of celebration within the Year 6-12 Service. We thank Pastor Ray Morris for leading the installation of staff and student leaders and his message. We thank Mrs Michiko Hauser for her leadership and organisation, our musicians for their talented performances and our backstage crew who all contributed to making it a memorable and meaningful event. We thank staff, students and parents for your part in shaping a strong celebration. We look forward to our Prep to Year 5 Commencement Service tomorrow and thank Chaplain Mr Mark Hauser, Mr Damian Davis and Mrs Sue Zweck for their leadership and organisation of the Prep to Year 5 Service.

We thank our Administration, Information Technology, Finance, Uniform and Grounds teams, and senior leaders who worked hard over the holiday break to provide a smooth start to the school year. Many people have commented on the considerable work that took place in the grounds and maintenance area. Work included the upgrade of the J block toilets and changerooms with individual cubicles being built into the J block changerooms. We look forward to working together with Middle and Senior College students to plan for the refurbishment of S block toilets and changerooms this semester.

Teachers and support staff valued the opportunity to collaborate in their planning last week to provide rich learning experiences for our students. Teachers joined with many of our continuing students to welcome new students to the College last Friday. We thank our staff and students for their commitment to enhancing the quality of experience for our community.

This week we farewell Mrs Julie McCosker, who has very capably led our Early Learning Centre (ELC) and Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) teams since 2015. Together with her team, she has created an environment that has given the youngest members of our community the best possible start. Her care for our little people and their families and heart for seeing children grow as happy and capable people and learners made a difference for many. Julie has led tremendous growth in both the ELC and OSHC and worked with staff to shape a culture of learning that promotes curiosity, connection, creativity and confidence. Senior students have also valued Mrs McCosker’s support and input as they have gained early childhood qualifications through working in the ELC.  Mrs McCosker can be proud of the growth she has led and we express our deepest appreciation to her. We wish Julie every blessing for the future.

We wish our Year 8 students all the best for their Year 8 Outdoor Education experience. We look forward to connecting with parents at the Middle College and Junior College Information Evenings on Monday and Wednesday evening next week, and our Year 11 parents and students at the Year 11 Information Evening.

We thank God for the people, gifts and talents He has brought into our community. We pray that He would walk with us as we co-create with hope and possibility together.
