As students finish Term 1 they may be thinking to themselves, “Now what am I going to do during the holidays?”. Sure there are games to play, movies to watch and friends to hang out with but here are some other worthwhile suggestions based on the PERMA concepts:

  • Find a cause you care about, research it and watch documentaries on it.
  • Volunteer your time. For example spend a morning cleaning up the beach or working at an animal shelter.
  • Improve your physical health.
  • Learn a new skill like cooking or drawing.
  • Read a good novel.
  • Learn how to practice mindfulness and stillness.
  • Build or fix something.
  • Visit a museum or art gallery.
  • Enjoy nature, go for a hike, have a picnic, fly a kite or visit a national park.
  • Ride a bike.
  • Go for a surf.
  • Keep a gratitude journal.
  • Write a daily reflection.
  • Drink more water.
  • Write thank you notes.
  • Organise for Term 2.

Above all, have fun these holidays and come back rested for Term 2.
