Match Reports
Pacific FC had some great results on the weekend all over the Sunshine Coast from Unity College to Bli Bli and in-between.
U8’S MANTARAYS
The Mantarays travelled to Noosa for their game on the Saturday 19th and it was a spectacular day to be out and about. Unfortunately, victory was not ours, but all players showed awesome defence and fantastic goal keeping skills. Player of the match went to Angus Sallie and the encouragement award went to our birthday boy, Matthew Carlaw.
U9 Vipers
Due to some logistical clashes and holidays, the Vipers started with a limited bench (none), and then had a casualty late in the game. However, that true Vipers spirit shone through. At half time it was 1-0 down, and the Vipers were challenging the goals. Nathan Russell was amazing in goals and stopped at least 8 goals for the match. Isabella was resolute in defence and was trapping like a genius. Blaize turned up with a new haircut that tricked the Coach. He plays like Ronaldo, and now he looks like Ronaldo. The team showed great heart in chasing all game, especially when they were one player short. The end result was 4-0 but it was a great effort by all Vipers. Benjamin received an award for his super team play.
U12 Eels
In much warmer than expected conditions the Eels again showed what a tough bunch of kids they are, fighting to the end and producing a nail biting finish, unfortunately just running out of time and going down 4-3. Behind 2-0 at half time the team set themselves the goal of winning the second half and ran back out full of energy and ready to give their all. The entire team defended like champions. The backline was a wall. We lost count of how many attacking raids they shut down. With 3 sensational goals in the second half our midfield and forwards showed they know how to score goals against tough competition. There were no easy goals here.
With a late goal getting the team within one point of a draw the team was buzzing and all the energy was with them, it looked like they might just get there. So close. Hot, red, sweaty faces told the story of the effort the kids had put in. They did themselves and Pacific FC proud. Never Give Up Eels!
Thanks to Jack Vardavas
Pacific FC would like to thank Jack for his efforts and contribution to the club, and especially the children over the years. Jack has retired from coaching the Eels but he won’t be forgotten. Over the past 3 years the Eels have won the 2016 Fair Play Award and also won the 2017 U11 C Grand Final. Please join us in wishing Jack all the best for the future.
