Match Reports

U6 Mantarays - The festival atmosphere was at fever pitch! Rio de Janeiro puts on a party but when the Mantarays are in town there is no hotter ticket. 3 consecutive wins and goals on tap to close out an undefeated historic season. Coach John commented, “To see the team in such good spirits one last time was great”. He went on “it’s going to be a long off-season, but we’ve laid the foundation for years to come”. The emotional medal ceremony featured “We are the Champions” flash photography and a lineup for autographs. On behalf of John (coach of the year) and I - thank you for an amazing season! ~Manager Mike

U12 Razors - Wow! What a game by the Razors against Sienna Raptors - a formidable opponent who has won all their games to date. The Razors however were focused, and all put their best efforts and teamwork into play. It was a tight game as expected but the Razors had the upper hand most of the first half although the Raptors managed to get ahead 1-0. The Razors kept their heads up and determination going which paid off with a nice equaliser in the second half. Overtime was looming, but some last efforts of pressuring paid off with a penalty kick awarded in the last minute of the game. With the ball calmly slotted into the goal, the Razors went straight through to the Grand Final, held on Saturday 3rd September! Very exciting game and exceptional performance by all players. Well done! ~Coach Terry

U14 Barracudas – The team headed to Palmwoods to play Palmwoods in the knockout semi-final. Both teams’ defences were wall-like with very few scoring chances for any team in the match.  0-0 throughout the match until…. In the last minute of play, the Barracudas were pressing for one more opportunity and as the attack was underway and close to goal, a Palmwoods’ hand made contact with the ball, allowing Barracudas to go up through a penalty. Enter Nick. Our skipper went hard and low with the shot and as it made its way into the net the Barracudas and their supporters rose as one. A marvellous 1-0 victory to PLC, launching the Barracudas into another must-win match next week to advance to the Grand Final. ~Coach Sheldon

U15/16 Eels – The Eels headed west on Saturday to Palmwoods for their semi-final. They played their hearts out but bowed out of finals contention with a 2-nil loss. This tight tussle of a game showed off their true spirit and grit. We thank Coach Ray and Manager Nicole for their dedication and unwavering commitment to the players. We also thank the parents, grandparents, and friends who have supported us from the sidelines each week. Watching the team play has been a highlight for many and we applaud all they have achieved during the season. We also thank K3 Coaching for their fabulous support.
