Round 11

Thank you to our amazing Pacific volunteer community - the set-up, canteen and pack-up crew, our home baking crew as well as our coaches and managers, who rallied together to host Round 11 for the players and spectators at Pacific Lutheran College. We even had an enormous box of home-grown lemons donated to the club for all to share! Days like these don’t just magically happen. It takes planning, commitment, and flexibility so we are super thankful to those who took the time to help the club in so many ways.

Match Reports

All Abilities - The All-Abilities Program ran once again on Field 7 where we played our 3rd All Abilities game at PLC with the players enjoying the morning sunshine. Thank you to Trevor and his family for coordinating the match and helping players take to the pitch with lots of support. Each week we have new entrants, with four new participants on the day and the weather was fantastic.  We had so much fun and there were many smiles at the end of the game with everyone kicking at least 2 goals each. If you are in the Coolum area this weekend, come along at 10.20am to the Coolum Crusaders Soccer Club near the Baptist Church.

U6 Pacific Mantarays - Glorious blue skies, a crisp breeze and a perfectly manicured pitch. It doesn’t get much better than this. Being at home, the Mantarays took the field full of confidence and swagger. Early in the second half, the Mantarays broke free from the shackles of gravity. Seeing the play in slow motion, the opposition parted like the Red Sea. With the Pippies left washed aside and an open goal ahead, the roar of the crowd built. The Mantarays didn’t disappoint, slamming the ball straight past the goal with reckless abandon. Wow. Historic!  Player of the match: Emika. Award winners: Jack + Hudson. Manager Mike and Chris.

U7 Pacific Snappers - The team smashed it this week, with Liam, Lucas, and Xavier all scoring goals. Benjamin and Hugo had a red-hot crack at scoring, just missing. A notable mention goes to Hugo, who gave it his all. Super proud of our team ending with an 8-1 win. They’ve come so far, and now actually play as a team, and have such a positive team spirit. They love soccer, and half the team stayed on to help the Orcas with their game. Go Snappers!! Manager Sian.

U7 Orcas - The Orcas took on Palmwoods this round with a little help from the Snappers. Goals were scored by Brodhi and Liam. Well done Orcas.

U8 Angelfish - A tough game for the team yesterday, but the girls are to be commended for their persistence and determination right to the very end. Congratulations to Player of the Match, Ashlen, goal scorer, Indie, and the Player of the Match as determined by the opposing team, Isla. Thanks go to Coach Cooky too for all his training! We love seeing the skills and confidence the girls continue to develop every week.

U8 Scorpions - The team went up against the Mooloolaba Sharks and came away with a 6-4 win. Super Scorpions!

U9 Sharks - The team played the Buddina United Orcas and Luke picked up Player of the Match for his excellent defending on goals in the first half! It was certainly busy at the goal end of the field, and although it was a loss, the team worked hard to keep many more out of the goals! Noah M scored Player of the Match from the Orcas, with their coach saying Noah played incredibly well, being everywhere at once. Manager Katie.

U11 Marlins - The team had a great game against Buderim Vortex and although the play on the field was even the Vortex took the match away 3-1. Given we had no subs the boys worked hard to even the score, especially in the second half! Congratulations to Charlie for Man of the Match and Toby and Zane for terrific work in goals and midfield. Manager Amanda.

U12 Razors - The Razors bounced back from the midweek game with a 4-1 win over the Palmwood Celtics today. There was plenty of action all over the field by both teams, some disallowed goals, and a penalty kick, making it very entertaining. The Razors kept up their hard work and passing game and showed they deserved the victory. Excellent performance and play by all! Manager Lara and Coach Terry.

U14 Barracudas - The team played a well-drilled Mooloolaba Galaxy team at PLC.  The Galaxy put three early goals on the Barracudas before the home team warmed to the task. Much closer game for rest of match with the final score being 4-2 in Galaxy’s favour.  Special mention to Mason, Ned P and Hayden. The Barracudas remain well placed on the table. Coach Sheldon.

U15/16 Eels - The Eels put in the big ones on Saturday and held the top of the ladder Caloundra team to a nil-all draw. Several times the Eels were on the cusp of scoring only to have it denied by the opposition. Well played team.
