We thank our many volunteers who took the time to set up, help in the canteen and on the BBQ and pack up. The many hands made light work and the club appreciates the effort. Special thanks to John Williams who set up many fields in the rain on Friday afternoon.

Round 5 Match Reports

U6 Manta Rays: On sloshy ground, the Manta Rays were in their element slipping, sliding and slamming home multiple goals. Exquisite skills and determination were vigorously applauded by well-wishers and parents alike. Well done Manta Rays! - Chris and Manager Mike

U7 Orcas: Great team spirit and dedication shown by the U7 Orcas on Saturday! The Orcas have displayed a massive improvement in their skills and teamwork with each game they play. Player of the Match – Mila and Ellie - Excellent Effort award! Good work Orcas. - Coach Shannon

U7 Snappers: The team played so well on Saturday - a huge win with 17 goals! Thanks to stand-in coach Dean and well done to the whole team who played a full game with gusto due to no subs! - Player of the Match – Hugo- Katie

U7 Stingrays - U7 Stingrays played Mooloolaba Rockets in a nice, early game at home. The Rockets were strong hard kickers. Player of the match – Elliot. Well done to all Stingrays. – Manager Kirsty

U8 Angelfish - Great game against the Pacific Swordfish on Saturday! The girls are really gaining confidence and passing to each other and working as a team! Fantastic work to superstars: Alaina - scored 2 goals and Player of the Match – Indie - Manager Sharon

U9 Sharks – The team scored not just their first goal of the season, but also won their first match 4-2! A lot of big squeals from the team, coach, manager, and parents! Fabulous goal kick from Marshall that nearly cleared the field, fantastic running from Jason and great kicks from Kaiden! Noah Y defended well, and we welcomed Dylan who had some great gains. Darcy also showed some excellent running & defence resilience. Super team effort. – Manager Katie

U9 Seahorses – The team is back in full force! Another great win 4-2 against Palmwoods Knights. The girls are improving each and every week, showing great determination and skills on the field. We have finally returned to our 2021 goal celebrations and the girls had every parent cheering with excitement on the sidelines. Our player of the match, Louise, has been a stand-out player every week, always chasing and fighting for the ball, running back and forth with great speed and skill. Amazing effort by the whole team. Game dedicated to all our amazing soccer mums, ending the game with 3 big Mother’s Day cheers. Well done Seahorses. - Manager Gabby

U10 Hammerheads - The Hammerheads took on the Palmwoods Warriors and WOW, what an amazing game it was, with both teams fighting hard right until the very end. The Hammerheads were dominant in the first half with goal after goal being scored by our super star striker Hunter Raymond and amazing goal keeping by our player of the match Charlie Gallagher! The Warriors came back in the second half and, unfortunately for the Hammerheads, there was a final goal kicked up & over the head of our goalkeeper to make the final score 5 to 4 in favour of the Warriors. Both teams were outstanding on the day and it was a joy to watch from the sideline! - Manager Tanya

U11 Marlins – The team played against the Buderim Heat at home. There were some goal attempts that could have evened the score but not to be this week. Faolan scored a fantastic goal with great teamwork from Chase. The final score was 5-2 Buderim’s way but not without a great second half fight by the Marlins! Congratulations to Toby and Benn for well-deserved awards this week! – Manager Amanda

Under 14 Barracudas – The team travelled north to take on Noosa Gold. Two quick goals from the Barracudas, despite being a player down at start of match, was met with a goal returned soon after by Noosa. Barracudas were strengthened late in the first half with an 11th player on the field and this made an immediate impact, with another goal for the Barracudas taking them into the half-time break 3-1 up. The second half tightened up however the Barracudas’ unwavering pressure paid dividends with two further goals in the latter half of the match, including an exquisite nonpreferred foot strike by Ned P.  Tom A was strong as the keeper.  The defence continued to turn the opposition away and are working well together.  The Barracudas were 5-1 victors in the end! – Coach Sheldon

U15/16 Eels – The team was up against the Palmwoods Commandos at home. A tight first half saw both teams locked up at 2-2.  Great half-time advice saw the Eels jump out of the blocks in the second half to post 6 goals. A great team effort with solid defence, sharp passing presenting loads of forward attacking runs throughout the game. Congratulations to Blake for player of the day. Well done to the Eels - a very strong performance to finish up 8-3 winners. – Manager Nicole
