Double Honour - School Captain Ben McCormac had a doubly successful Saturday this weekend.

Amidst high calibre competition, Ben was awarded both the winner of the public speaking element and the overall winner of the Regional Lions Youth of The Year.

A trip to Wamuran for the contest saw him meet and compete against five other young leaders, each representing a Lions Club from this Region, before returning to his weekend-long production camp for rehearsals.

He again undertook a panel interview, worth 70% of the judging points and then delivered two impromptu speeches and a five-minute prepared speech.

The Lions Youth of The Year program has a proud history of encouraging and fostering leadership skills in Australian students. We thank the Lions Club of Caloundra for their support of Ben and the opportunity to participate in this rewarding program.

We wish Ben all the best as he takes on the next round of competition on March 25th
