Visiting Authors
The library was buzzing this week with visits from two award-winning authors. On Tuesday, students in Years 4-6 met author, Samantha Wheeler, who writes middle grade adventure novels with an environmental theme. She is known for her best-selling novel Everything I’ve Never Said based on her daughter’s experience with Rett syndrome. Samantha was highly engaging and her books went flying off the shelves afterwards.
On Wednesday, it was our Kindy to Year 3 students’ turn to see picture book author, illustrator and performer Gregg Dreise. Gregg had students laughing, singing and dancing as he shared stories related to his indigenous heritage and played the digeridoo. Both authors encouraged students to keep reading. Author visits are a great way for students to connect with stories and see the people behind the books, which is why the PLC Library organizes these events.
