Prep – 2 Inter-House Athletics Carnival
The Prep to Year 2 students will participate in a Foundation College Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 28th August. A parent information letter regarding this event was sent home this week via email to families.
There will be a range of different team and individual events on the day, including a 60m sprint, shuttle relay, long jump, high jump, plastic javelin throw, sack races and ball games.
The aim of this carnival is to provide students with an opportunity to implement skills learnt during Physical Education lessons into practice in a fun, participation based carnival experience. All students will receive a participation ribbon and points for their house. First, second and third ribbons will also be awarded for the 60m sprint.
Parents and spectators are welcome to attend the carnival.
4-6 SCISSA Training – Monday Afternoons
4 - 6 after-school SCISSA training restarts this coming Monday with students training from 3:15 – 4:15pm. All students except for Water polo players need to meet out on the main oval for rolls before moving off to their training location.
Students training for Water polo will need to meet out on the front oval next to the gymnasium to catch their bus to Kawana Pool for training. Parents are required to pick their child up from the pool at 4:15pm.
If your child is unable to attend training for any reason, please email or call the Junior College Office prior to training on Monday.
Sunshine Coast Marathon
There is still time if students would like to join us for a great run on Sunday 11th August at the Sunshine Coast Marathon. There are a range of distances you can enter from 2km to 10km. When registering, join the team ‘PLC Run Club 2024’ for a 10% discount. There will be a PLC tent set up on the day and refreshments will be provided for students after their race. It would be great to see as many students as possible come along and run on Sunday.
Student Success
Well done to the following students across Years 4-6 who have recently achieved some amazing results in their sporting fields.
Emily Groll- Last week Emily participated in the 10-12 years girls Queensland Schools Football Championships in Townsville. The Sunshine Coast girls team had a great tournament, finishing 3rd overall. Sunshine Coast only lost 1 game all tournament and had a 0-0 draw with the overall winners, South Coast. Emily was awarded MVP, by opposition teams for two of the games during the tournament.
Emily has now been selected in the Queensland team, and will travel to Perth in October to play in the National Football Championships. Congratulations Emily!
Gemma Bryce- Last weekend Gemma competed at the 2024 Surf Lifesaving National Pool Rescue Titles held on the Gold Coast. Gemma recorded PBs in multiple events at the championships and came away with four silver medals with her Metropolitan Caloundra club after a grueling three days of competition.
Well done Gemma!
