Pacific Pulse Surfing Contest

Last Friday, PLC hosted our annual Primary inter-school surfing contest “Pacific Pulse” down at Currimundi Beach. The contest involved six schools from Noosa through to Caloundra, including Good Shepherd Lutheran College, Pacific Lutheran College, Buddina State School, Mooloolaba State School, Talara Primary College and Our Lady of the Rosary.

Teams were made up of 8 students (boys and girls) ranging in age from Under 10 through to Under 12.

All students surfed two individual heats with their highest two wave scores from each heat combining to determine age champions for each age group. At the end of the individual heats, all 8 students from each school surfed in a Tag Team event which was the highlight of the day.

Well done to the following PLC students who were named as runners up or age champions for their age groups.

Ayla Robson – Under 10 Girls Age Champion

Indie Hooper – Under 10 Girls Runner Up

Tara McFadden – Under 12 Girls Age Champion

Congratulations to Talara Primary College who were crowned the Tag Team Champions.

Lastly, in a first for the 17-year history of the event, we had a tie for the overall champion school. Both Buddina State School and Talara Primary College finished on the same points total and were therefore crowned joint champions for 2023.

We also thank sponsors Beach Beat Caloundra, Rob Williams Real Estate and North Caloundra Surf School for supporting this fantastic event.

Mr Darren Hooper, Head of Junior Sport P-6
