Swimming

The 3-6 Inter-House Swimming Carnival was held on Tuesday this week. It was a very warm day out at the pool with students enjoying the chance to get into the water throughout the day. It was great to see our new Year 6 leaders, leading their Houses during the day in House war cries with high levels of spirit on display during the carnival.

Congratulations to the following swimmers who were age champions or runners-up in their age group at the end of the carnival.

Congratulations to Lily Costa who also broke two records on that day in the 10 years girls age group.

10 Girls Freestyle – 34.45

10 Girls Butterfly – 40.70

Lastly, congratulations to Buran house who was awarded the House Spirit trophy at the end of the carnival and Wira house who were crowned the 2023 Swimming Carnival champions.

Run Club

Running has had a strong following at PLC over the past few years in our PLC Run Club.  Run Club is open for all students across Years 3-12 and caters to all ability levels – from beginners to advanced.  There is an emphasis on participation, enjoyment and improving a child’s personal level of fitness. In Term 2, the focus changes to more endurance running with longer distances being covered.

There are three main goals for Run Club this year:

1.        Preparation for the school and district cross-country carnivals (April/May).

2.        Culminating run at Park Run at the end of Term 2.

3.        Sunshine Coast Marathon Running Festival (August).

Students had the opportunity to sign up earlier this week. However, if your child missed the signup and would like to be part of Run Club this year, please email kkiernan@pacluth.qld.edu.au to register their interest.

Run Club commences next Tuesday morning.
