Pacific Pulse Surfing Contest
Last Friday, Pacific once again hosted our inter-school primary surfing contest, The Pacific Pulse. Six schools across the Sunshine Coast participated, with Mooloolaba State School and St Andrews College competing for the first time. Held this year at Kings Beach, surfers were greeted by fun 2 -3 ft waves with light offshore winds all day.
The competition structure allowed students to surf two individual heats with points going towards the Overall Champion School and the Individual Age Champion Awards. At the completion of the individual heats, a Tag Team event involving all eight surfers from each school was held at the end of the day, which always proves to be a popular way to finish the contest.
Congratulations to St Andrews who were able to take home the Champion School trophy.
The results at the end of the day were as follows:
Tag Team Event – 1st Mooloolaba State School
2nd Buddina State School
3rd Pacific Lutheran College
Champion School – 1st - St Andrews
2nd – Good Shepherd and Buddina State School
4th – Mooloolaba State School
5th - Pacific Lutheran College
6th – Baringa State College
Well done to all Pacific students who surfed on the day. Team members who represented PLC were:
Beau Woods, Oscar Hagan, Kai Newcombe, Georgia McFadden, Tara McFadden, Jax McFadden, Indie Hooper and Ayla Robson.
Well done to Indie Hooper who won the Under 10 girls division.
A big thank you to Mr Damian Davis and Mr Scott Massie for their help in organising and running the contest as well as our PLC support staff of Mrs Lisa Muir, Caity O’Keefe and Lachie Buchanan who assisted in the running of the contest on the day.
Lastly, thanks to our valued event sponsors who continue to support this event each year.
Beach Beat Caloundra for their generous donation of some awesome prizes for the kids.
Rob Williams Real Estate for their cash donation for the screen-printing of the Pacific Pulse Contest Shirt which each surfer received.
