4-6 Gala Day and Sports Awards

Last Thursday, students from Years 4-6 enjoyed their last SCISSA Gala Day for 2022. Students had the opportunity to represent the College in a wide range of sports and it was great to hear many positive stories from both students and staff who enjoyed their day or friendly inter-school competition.

Congratulations to the following teams who were overall champions of their division at the end of the day:

Under 12 Boys AFL

Year 4 Girls Volleyball

Year 4 Mixed Water Polo

A reminder that the Years 4-6 end of year Sports Awards will be held next Thursday 17th November in the College gymnasium. The awards will run from 12.00pm – 1.00pm and this year our special guest presenter is netballer Steph Wood who is the current Sunshine Coast Lightning Captain and Vice-Captain of the Australian Diamonds. Steph recently won gold at the Manchester Commonwealth Games and we are thrilled to have her join us for this celebration of achievement.

Ballinger Cup Primary School Hockey Carnival

On Tuesday this week, a mixed team of boys and girls from Years 4-6 represented PLC in our first interschool hockey competition, The Ballinger Cup. Held up at the Sunshine Coast Hockey Centre at Buderim, the carnival involved primary school students from six schools within the Sunshine Coast

Our PLC team played seven matches on the day and qualified for the third vs. fourth playoff against St Andrews. PLC was able to win this playoff 2-1 which meant we finished in 3rd place at the end of the carnival. Well done to all players who represented the College and a big thank you to Mrs Fiona Schefe and Mrs Kim Kiernan who coached and managed the team on the day.

Pacific Pulse Surfing Contest

We are looking forward to once again hosting our annual Pacific Pulse Surfing Contest this Friday down at Kings Beach with the first heat in the water at 7.00am.

This year we have five other schools from all over the Sunshine Coast – Baringa State Primary, Buddina State School, Mooloolaba State School, Good Shepherd Lutheran College, St Andrews Anglican College as well as PLC battling it out to be named the champion school.

A big thank you to our major sponsors of the contest – Beach Beat Caloundra and Rob Williams Real Estate who have once again come on board this year and generously donated towards the event.

Student Acknowledgment

Well done to Will Fowler and Sam Schefe who have been selected to play in the Queensland Junior Country Championships for Water Polo at the Gold Coast in early December. Well done boys!
