Last Thursday, the weather provided a beautiful Winter’s day for our Year 3-6 students to participate in the Athletics Carnival. Held out at the University of the Sunshine Coast, it was great to see high levels of house spirit and student participation and engagement. Bula took out the spirit trophy on the day with some fantastic cheering and house spirit on display throughout the carnival.

Congratulations to the following students who were named runners-up and age champions at the end of the carnival.

Congratulations also to the following students who set new records on the day.

P-2 Interhouse Cross Country Carnival

The P-2 Interhouse Cross Country Carnival will take place on Wednesday 22nd June (Week 10). An information letter was sent home to families this week outlining the course and relevant details about the afternoon. Please note all students will need to wear their full sports uniform with House shirts to school on the day of the carnival. Parents are warmly invited to come along and support their child but are requested to always remain on the outside of the playing field fence whilst spectating.

Student Success

Over the last couple of weeks, we have had a number of students attend District and Regional sporting trials. Well done to the following students on their achievements.

Tennis – Isabella Welsh

Isabella recently competed in the Under 12 Sunshine Coast Regional Tennis Trials. Isabella won the tournament and is now regional champion as she progresses through to the State Championship in Cairns.

Rugby Union

Three students from PLC (Saxon Mathers, Mitchel Van Dyke and Tom Cannon were members of the Under 12 Boys District Rugby Union team who competed last week at the Regional trials. The Independent team played exceptionally well and recorded several great wins.

Saxon and Mitchel were asked to play in the Possible’s vs Probable’s game at the end of the carnival with Mitchel gaining selection in the Sunshine Coast team to play in the State Championships in Rockhampton later this year.

Cricket

Over the last two weeks, we have had a few boys attend the Under 12 Independent District Cricket trials at Matthew Flinders. Well done to Fletcher Friend and Josh Allen who have been selected in this team to compete at the Sunshine Coast Regional trials.
