Harmony Day is celebrated around Australia on 21st March each year. It's a day where all Australians celebrate our cultural diversity and gives people the opportunity to celebrate what makes each Australian unique and share what we have in common. The continuing message for Harmony Day is that Everyone Belongs, which means all Australians are a welcome part of our country, regardless of their background. It's a time to reflect on where Australia has come from, recognising the traditional owners of this land. It's also about community participation, inclusiveness and respect – celebrating the different cultures that make Australia a great place to live.

Australians come from all over the world. Indigenous Australians have been here for tens of thousands of years. In the last two centuries people have come from every continent to make Australia their home. Today there are over 21 million people living in Australia who all contribute different ideas, religions, languages and customs to our country. The diversity of people who live in Australia makes it an interesting place to live.

The Primary Japanese Department invites students to show their support next Monday, the 21st of March, by packing a multi-cultural lunch.
