Diversity adds great colour to our lives. In the natural environment biodiversity ensures the wellbeing of ecosystems and adds greatly to their richness. Within our families, groups, and communities we are also greatly enriched by the diversity of thinking, experiences and cultural backgrounds. Being culturally competent means that we understand, communicate and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures. Communities are enriched where individuals understand their own beliefs and values and are tuned into the strengths and needs of people with different backgrounds and perspectives. Having respect for the dignity of all people and valuing the richness of culture that sits within different communities opens the opportunity to sit, learn, and grow together.

God calls us to love our neighbour as ourselves. As we come together as a College, Sunshine Coast region and Australians, we have a great opportunity to learn together through listening, appreciating, celebrating and valuing the different ways of thinking and being within our community. Walking together we create fertile places for people and the planet to thrive. Coming from a sense of abundance and learning there is an openness of welcome and safety to creatively explore better and richer ways of being together.
