This week holds a special place for our College community as we take the time to informally and formally farewell the 2023 Year 12 Graduates.  Their final week as Pacific students was filled with many memorable moments and meaningful experiences.

Year 12 students engaged in the Alternate Days Program, Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th November.  The Alternate Days Program included a wellbeing session and careers focus session, an opportunity for final Year 2 buddy connections, completion of their Graduation Art Tile, opportunity to walk the labyrinth for the final time, House and PCG farewells, formal dance practice, rehearsal of the graduation song and attending the annual Years 6-12 Sports Awards Ceremony.

As part of Year 12 celebrations on Wednesday 15th November, the College Captains invited graduates to engage in their final fundraising opportunity, permitting students to come dressed as their ‘future selves’ or ‘childhood dream career’ with the purpose of raising awareness for Sunshine Coast’s Youturn Organisation, which concentrates on supporting youth and child safety, homelessness and mental health. This has been a priority focus for the College Captains and Wellbeing Captains this year, raising awareness of student wellbeing, mental health and safety within the College and beyond into the wider community. On behalf of the College Captains, this generous donation will be presented to a representative from Youturn at the Final Chapel service, Friday 17th November.

As the Year 12 students look forward to walking across the stage and receiving their Graduation Certificate from Dr Dolling, singing their Graduation song as a cohort on stage in front of family and friends, attending the Final Chapel service and walking the Guard of Honour, and then finally, getting dressed up to dance the night away at the Formal, held at Sunshine Coast Turf Club, I want to congratulate the cohort on their calm finish, their contributions as leaders of the College community and their lasting legacy of student agency in actioning change for the future of Pacific to enjoy.

My hope is that this week has been everything the Year 12s could ever have imagined and more.

God bless.

Year 9 and Year 10 Leadership Days

As we farewell our Year 12 students, there is a transition for Year 9 and Year 10 students entering into Senior College and becoming peer mentors for Middle College students, commencing 2024.

On Tuesday 22nd November, Year 10 students will engage in their second Leadership Day, led by Lutheran Youth Queensland, held at the College’s Gymnasium. The day will have a focus on growing students’ sense of belonging and connection, observing joy and a sense of renewed purpose as they look ahead towards Year 11 in 2024.

On Thursday 24th November, Year 9 students will engage in a Peer Mentoring Day, also led by Lutheran Youth Queensland, held at the College’s Gymnasium. The day will have a focus on growing their leadership capabilities and growing in confidence as Senior College peer mentors for Middle College students.

Communication and additional information for both Leadership Days has been shared with students and families.
