The Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) is one of Queensland’s most respected medical research facilities. It is located within the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospitals complex in Brisbane and is also known as “QIMR Berghofer”. They run a range of programs for school students throughout the year, each year. If you are interested in a career in medicine or medical research, the QIMR Berghofer programs are a great opportunity to learn how medical research works. There is fierce competition for places in all programs every year.

Students who would like to do one of these programs should watch the QIMR Berghofer website closely over the summer, as they will open up applications for next year’s programs early in the year. You may still be able to get into one of the programs in December this year. For information on all programs, go to https://www.qimrberghofer.edu.au/

They offer a fully funded Certificate II course; which includes self-paced theory workbooks, and practical training sessions that are offered during school holidays. Upon completion, students receive 4 credits towards their QCE (Queensland Certificate of Education). If you are interested in including this course in your study program for 2022, please contact Mrs Wanda Hayes.

Year 11 Students (subject changes)

If you are in Year 11, and you want to make changes to your subjects for Year 12, you need to complete that as soon as possible after your exams. All subjects will move into Year 12 work as soon as exams are completed. Any delay will mean you have catch-up work to do. If you want to change subjects, please make an appointment to see Ms Ann-Marie Gerlach and Mrs Wanda Hayes as soon as possible.
