Courage grows as we give of our best in the everyday. Where and when personal courage is needed varies from person to person. For some it might be speaking in front of groups. For others it may be having a go at something where we are not confident of the outcome. It takes courage to stand up for others or to do what we know is right in the face of opposition from peers, co-workers, friends or large groups. As personal courage is exhibited there is alignment between our internal values and our external behaviours. Courage comes in many forms that involve risk, an intention to overcome the risk and often brings benefits to other people. Our courage grows as we learn to embrace challenges as learning opportunities where irrespective of outcome, we see ourselves as growing through the process. Courage grows through quiet persistence, being clear on our values and developing the habit to engage with and learn through challenges.

As we confront challenges, we can be strengthened by knowing that God walks with us. Like Daniel, as we walk into our personal lion’s dens, we can trust that God walks with us, equipping and strengthening us.
