There was an air of excitement yesterday as students and parents entered the College. Young people were looking forward to connecting with each other and to engage with their next level of learning. Parents enjoyed the freedom to be able to come onto campus. Small things make a difference in how we experience community. Within community there is a common purpose and a common identity. We each are enriched by and have a responsibility to extend a warm welcome. Our common purpose is to take every opportunity to enhance our gifts so that we can enhance our life, the life of others and the environment.

God’s command of love your neighbour as yourself has a two fold message. We are to learn to love ourselves and our neighbour. In loving ourselves, we explore and extend ourselves in connection to others and the world in which we live including our environment. We take on the responsibility to grow to be our best selves so that we can live life abundantly and enrich the lives of others and the planet. Loving our neighbour involves caring for all people within and beyond our community. Small gifts of welcome and inclusion are a great way to start. We live life most richly where there is an atmosphere of ‘everyone is welcome’ flowing around us. This is God’s welcome to us. Everyone is welcome. He invites us to come and grow in and with Him.
