Changes to Teaching Degree Prerequisites

There have been changes to the requirements for teacher training degrees. Currently the prerequisites for entry to a teaching degree are:

• At least Sound Achievement in Authority English
• At least Sound Achievement in Mathematics (Mathematics A and/or B and /or C)
• Students entering undergraduate primary (including early childhood and middle years) programs also require a Sound Achievement in an Authority Science subject.

In addition to these requirements, applicants applying for teaching courses commencing in 2018 will be required to submit to QTAC a 1000-word statement addressing their personal competencies. This will be assessed by QTAC as satisfactory or not satisfactory. Applicants applying for more than one teaching degree need only submit one statement.
