Career Clusters in focus (Years 10-12)

This is the fifth part in a 6-week series of articles, where I will be overviewing one of the 6 Career Clusters each week. Senior College students have access to information about the Career Clusters on the PLC Careers Hub and will have an opportunity to learn about the Clusters in their PD lessons.

So far, we have looked at Makers, Guardians, Coordinators and Innovators.

This week’s focus cluster is Informers.

Informers use their industry-specific expertise to support others to learn, develop, create, protect, account, research, and analyse. Informers are skilled at helping others and have a deep knowledge of their chosen area, as well as extensive experience. Informers use their skills in every industry, but particularly in education, financial and business services, legal services, politics, intelligence, and the arts.

In addition to their technical skills, important transferable skills for Innovators include Serving others, Problem-solving and innovation, and Organisation. Does this sound like you? What jobs do you know that fit within this cluster?

Study Work Grow has just released the 2023 Scholarships Guide. Paid Gap Year in Government and Public Administration (Year 12)

The Department of Home Affairs is pleased to present an opportunity for current Year 12 students who are exploring the option of a ‘Gap Year’ in 2024.

The Home Affairs Gap Year program will commence in February 2024 with positions offered in dynamic teams where they will have the opportunity to do interesting and meaningful work that affects many parts of Australian Life. Successful applicants will be employed on a 12-month temporary contract and gain valuable experience supporting the processing and administration of essential business areas with excellent working conditions and remuneration.

Both Full time and Part time roles will be available, so students could take on this opportunity while also attending university next year. Full-time roles pay $54K+. Please see attached flyer for more information.

Bond Scholarship applications now open (Year 12)

Scholarship applications are now open for high-achieving Year 12 students who wish to study at Bond University.

We provide a range of awards including full-fee scholarships awarding from $97,000 - $194,000 in approximate value, and part-fee scholarships awarding from $24,000 - $97,000 in approximate value. As a not-for-profit institution, it's our privilege to be able to support the journeys of the best and brightest Bondies each semester. Whether your students exemplify stand-out skills or have excelled in their academic, leadership, community or sporting efforts, our scholarships provide an opportunity to further support their studies at Bond and be recognised for their achievements. Among the scholarships on offer this year are:

• Vice Chancellor’s Elite Scholarship - 100% tuition remission for an approved single or combined degree.

Recipients of these scholarships are also invited to participate in the Vice Chancellor’s Mentoring Program once commenced at Bond. The Mentoring Program connects each scholar with an influential corporate mentor and is intended to cultivate industry links, networks and business acumen.
