Thinking of Studying Architecture? (Years 10-12)

Students (aged 14–18 years) thinking about studying architecture and design have an opportunity to learn more about the profession at a special workshop.

The Australian Institute of Architects Queensland Chapter, Sunshine Coast Open House, and the Sunshine Coast City Council would like to extend an invitation to students in Years 10, 11 and 12 considering a career in architecture and design. 

Students will participate in a workshop, and discover what it’s like to study architecture, design, urban design, and associated subjects including town planning, and sustainability.

Students will enjoy:

•          Speaking with current graduates, academics and practitioners about architecture, design, planning and sustainability pathways.

•          Learning through making with dynamic and fun activities including model making and design sketching.

•          Hear from architects who will provide insight into what it is like to be an architect day-to-day.

Aviation Australia - One-Day Cabin Crew Experience (Years 10-12)

The One-Day Cabin Crew Experience course is designed for people who have been dreaming of a career in the skies and are yet to decide if it’s the right path for them. You will have a taster of what it’s like to be a flight attendant and, by the end of the day, you will understand what you need to do to earn your wings and see your career take off.

A cabin crew career can be exciting and satisfying. There are opportunities to travel and you will have a different view from your “office” every day. It’s also demanding and challenging, with early starts and overnight shifts. Becoming a flight attendant is a popular career choice – hundreds, if not thousands, of candidates compete for available roles. National Computer Science School 2023 (Years 10 and 11)

The National Computer Science School (NCSS) is a ten-day summer school for students going into Years 11 and 12. NCSS brings together talented young people from around Australia for an intensive course in computer programming and website development at university.

NCSS has been offered in various formats since 1996 (formerly at the University of Sydney). In 2023, we will be running concurrently at the University of Melbourne and our new Sydney home, UNSW.

NCSS is organised by Grok Academy together with our host universities. The school is completely residential, with all students staying with NCSS staff in full-board accommodation provided on campus.

UQ Queensland Mathematics Summer School (Year 10)

UQ’s Queensland Mathematics Summer School (QMSS) introduces students in Year 10 to the beauty of advanced mathematical ideas and new ways of thinking.

Hosted by UQ’s School of Mathematics and Physics each January, this 4-day non-residential program is open to talented students who are going into Year 11 and have chosen to study Maths Methods and Specialist Maths.

You’ll delve into the deep, difficult, fun, mysterious, abstract, interconnected, and useful aspects of this fascinating subject.
