On Saturday 19th March, seven Pacific Speech and Drama students and their families attended the Australian College of Music’s (ACM) Annual Awards Night in Brisbane. The annual ACM awards celebrate the state’s top achievers in the fields of Music, Speech and Drama. Attendees are treated to top class music and drama performances and enjoy an amazing supper afterwards. The following students were presented with medals for receiving the top scores in the state for their recent Speech and Drama practical examinations.

Gold medal winners were Imogen Joppich (Year 11), Indie-Mae Temenes (Year 7), Grace Whitelaw (Year 6) and Sebastian Carter (Year 4). Silver medallists were Briarna Bell (Year 7), Mya Boyall (Year 5) and Priya Miles (Year 4).

Imogen Joppich also received the Annabel Garriock Award for excellence in Grade V Speech and Drama (practical and theory). This is the first time a student from the Sunshine Coast has won this award. Daphne Bimrose, Annabel Garriock’s former teacher and a long-standing member of ACM, presented the award to Imogen.

It was a truly inspiring night for these students and a wonderful chance for them to feel part of something 'larger' as students of the ACM. Congratulations to my fearless group of students! You make me very proud.
