On Saturday night, two of our Speech and Drama students, Mia Bradshaw and Gabrielle Donato, received awards at the Australian College of Music (ACM) Annual Awards Night in Brisbane. It was a particularly special occasion as the ACM celebrated its 50-year anniversary.

Each year, Speech and Drama students have the option of sitting a practical exam with the ACM and in 2017 we had more than 30 students participate. All of those students received Merit or Honours. The highest scoring Honours students in the state are then eligible for gold and silver medals at the annual awards night.

Mia (currently in Year 8) was presented with a gold medal, topping the state in her grade level. Gabrielle, who graduated Year 12 in 2017, received a silver medal. Gabrielle’s outstanding performance in her Grade VII Speech and Drama exam was recognised by the University of Queensland in her tertiary application, providing her with a competitive rank to gain entrance to the Languages Department.

A huge congratulations to both Mia and Gabrielle and well done to all Speech and Drama students who put in an enormous amount of work with their exam pieces.
