Tax File Numbers

Prospective university students (current Year 12 students) are encouraged to apply early for a Tax File Number (TFN). Students who gain entry to a university course must have a TFN to be able to defer their fee payment through HECS-HELP, FEE-HELP or VET FEE-HELP (to pay later through the tax system). To obtain a TFN, students can contact the Australian Tax Office (ATO) and complete a 'tax file number - application or enquiry for an individual' form.
