Last week I had the pleasure of joining students and their teachers at the Year 4 Outdoor Education camp in Alexandra Headland.

The Outdoor Education program at the College is a well-planned, sequential program extending from Years 3-12. It provides all students the opportunity to develop a variety of interpersonal, leadership and problem solving skills in a challenging, exciting and carefully controlled outdoor setting. Research suggests that such experiences can be the most significant, memorable and defining events experienced by children during their school years. Thank you to our Head of Outdoor Education and Personal Development, Dr Peter McMahon, for coordinating and planning such an excellent program.

Under clear blue skies, the Year 4 students and their teachers left the College on Thursday morning and returned excited, if not a little tired, on Friday afternoon. Whilst at Alex Park, students completed a variety of activities aimed at developing cooperation, teamwork and confidence including raft building and initiative games. All students participated enthusiastically in the activities.  We thank Year 4 teachers, Mr Damian Davis, Mr Steven Healy and Mr Scott Massie, Head of Learning Enrichment P-5 Mrs Anthea Brighton, LEC Aide Mrs Jenny Hoffman and Outdoor Education Aides Madi, Elisha and Josh for their care and support of our students. Their leadership, professionalism, humour and enthusiasm made the camp a very successful, worthwhile and enjoyable experience for all students.
