2024 Student Leadership and Opportunities to Serve Our Community
2024 Student Leadership and Opportunities to Serve Our Community
It has been wonderful to see an overwhelmingly positive number of Year 11 students apply for a range of 2024 leadership positions, including College Captain, Action Captain and House Captain.
Over the past week, applicants have engaged in an interview process with the Head of Learning Senior College, Head of House and myself, with an opportunity to share their understanding of what leadership at Pacific is. They were able to reflect on their contributions to the College and identify how they can use their God-given strengths and gifts to work collaboratively with others to serve students across P-12 and the wider College community. It was a joy to listen to the applicants share their appreciation of past College leaders, acknowledge their service to the Pacific community and recognise how this has positively impacted their PLC journey and desire to give back and serve others.
There are so many opportunities for our 6-12 students to grow their servant leadership capacities at Pacific. These include volunteering time at next week’s OCEANFest, preparing morning tea and playing musical instruments for our community at last week’s Grandparents Day, acting as Peer Mentors for younger students within Pastoral Care Group, attending and sharing thinking at fortnightly Student Action meetings, by celebrating the strengths of those within each class and by taking time to show appreciation and kindness in our interactions with those who support learning.
I wish all Year 11 applicants the best as they complete interviews this week. Positions for 2024 are announced later in the term. Throughout this process, it is important to remember that each member of the Pacific community possesses individual strengths, gifts and leadership qualities to make small and large contributions to growing and shaping the future of PLC.
