Principal's Log

Congratulations to our Year 5 to 10 teams who enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the da Vinci Decathlon online tournament last week.  The competition provides the opportunity for highly able students to expand their thinking, build team skills and enhance their creativity as they compete with students from schools across the state. Students compete in teams across ten different disciplines.  We congratulate all teams, particularly our Year 5 team who came 1st in ideation, 1^st in science and 3^rd in legacy, and our Year 9 team who were 2^nd in ideation, 3^rd in engineering, 3^rd in art and poetry and 3^rd in code breaking.  This is an outstanding achievement for these students and we thank Mr Andrew Block, Mrs Julie Darr, Mrs Adelle Byerlee, Mrs Linda Sydes, and Mrs Chantelle McAllister for providing this rich learning experience for our students.

Our Year 3 to 12 students enjoyed the opportunity to compete in their Athletics Carnivals last week at the Sunshine Coast University Athletic Track.  Students showed very high levels of participation and spirit. Wira house won both the Year 3-6 and the Year 7-12 carnivals and Bula house won the spirit award at both carnivals. We congratulate all students on the way they participated and supported their houses and thank the Friends of Pacific BBQ team for providing much-appreciated food and beverages on the days. Thank you to our Physical Education staff, very capably led by Mr Cameron West-McInnes, Mr Darren Hooper and newly appointed Sports Administrator Mrs Lisa Muir, for their organisation and leadership of the carnivals. 

We congratulate our netballers on a successful season as part of the Sunshine Coast Secondary School Netball Competition and wish the PLC Jade, PLC Sapphires and PLC Opal teams all the best for their grand final games played at 4.00pm and 5.00pm on Monday 13^th June.

It was a delight to watch our U13 Boys Rugby team compete against Sunshine Coast Grammar in the semi finals last night. It was a tightly contested game where both teams displayed high levels of skill and sportsmanship.  The boys can be very proud of their performance.  Grammar won the game by a converted try. We wish our boys all the best as they now go on to play for the silver plate next week.

May God grant us the presence of mind to grow through moments of stillness.
